Typhoon Trami

As of this writing, I can hear the sound of the wind howling outside. I feel relatively safe in our condominium though I’m aware that it has already wreaked havoc in other parts of Japan. Several injuries have been reported in Okinawa where it first made landfall. We’ll probably get a better sense of the damage come Monday morning.

Today is Sunday but we didn’t go to church. Actually, the worship service was held yesterday as we anticipated the dangers being posed by this typhoon. In my many years of doing ministry in Japan, in my recollection, it’s the first time that we have cancelled church events due to a natural occurrence like this.

The Bible verse I read this morning gave me an assuring head start. Psalm 18:2 NLT says, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves, and my place of safety.”

I hope and pray that we’ll all emerge from it safe and sound. Stay safe everyone!
